Geez, being a student really makes you become lazy! Well for me it is!
Anyhow, I started picking up a pencil again to sketch, as I've given up sketching or even drawing for about 2 years now. Reason? Lost my passion since I couldn't find my own style. Most of my sketches or even drawings were really copies of what I enjoyed watching or reading. And because I'm lazy, I usually sketch one individual character so I can concentrate on them.
But being able to copy a picture (NOT TRACING, I think that's just low) made me feel that I can only copy, but I can't create. Now that is where I think creativity comes into play.
After attending Animation: Planning and Application, I realized that I really have to put my foot into this and start to create. I have many ideas, but when I sketch, it all goes to waste. Either way, not everyone starts off as a great artist, even for my idols (so far, Akira Toriyama, Takeshi Obata and Takehiko Inoue) they had their down times before they succeeded and was acknowledge. Even so, as we all say it, practice makes perfect.
At the moment, I've been trying to study my style and what I really want to relate it to. Yes, so far it's all from Anime and Manga etc. I grew up with them and that was part of my dream, to become part of that.
This is my first post, but throughout the weeks, I'll try my best to update it as much as possible. Other than sketches, I'll post up a small portion of scripts, ideas, storyboards as well.
I've got sketches ready to be scanned, so I'll do them later on this week.
